NATO Run(s) in Budapest – Security is life

NATO Run(s) 2018 was an event organized for the 13th time by the Budapest Athletic Association and Euro Atlantic Diplomacy Society, with the support of NATO Public Diplomacy Division. Running for health is recommended, however running for a particular cause becomes important, especially nowadays when security represents one of the main pillars of our daily life.

NATO Run(s) took place in Budapest on 25th of September. It was organized for the first time in 2008 and managed to reach on a year basis thousands of participants. This year run contributed to raise awareness on peace, security, protection against cyber attacks. The event had three categories where participants registered:

  • NATO RUN – 10 KM RUN

Start: District 1, Attila Street 135. (Vérmező), at 11:00 am
Finish: 
Buda Castle, Kapisztrán Square (Kapisztrán tér)

  • NATO RUN – 10 KM RELAY

Start: District 1, Attila Street 135. (Vérmező), at 11:00 am
Finish: 
Buda Castle, Kapisztrán Square (Kapisztrán tér)

Relay station: Batthyányi Square (Batthyányi tér) – Sztehlo Gábor riverbank (Sztehlo Gábor rakpart)

  • NATO RUN – 4 KM CASTLE RUN

Start: District 1, Attila Street 135. (Vérmező), at 12:40 pm
Finish: 
Buda Castle, Kapisztrán Square (Kapisztrán tér)

Beside the running itself, the organizers have prepared outdoor performances that participants can enjoy during the day, such as Hungarian folk and dances, HDF Central Orchestra, HDF Support Brigade Special Parade Group, drone exhibition, health advisory services, exhibitions (sports equipment, sportswear).

Euro Atlantic Diplomacy Society concluded a partnership with World Class Romania for this event, thus participants had the chance to rely on expert coaches, but also to take part in fitness exercises and tailored training programmes. Moreover, World Class coaches shared a wide range of strategies and training plans with the runners, from how to improve their speed endurance to how they can cover substantial distances.
