This summer be prepared for the key event of your diplomatic career!

Defence and Dialogue in Eastern Europe (#DDEE) will take place from July 31 to August 5, 2017 in Bucharest (Romania) and will involve over 200 participants from all over the world with different backgrounds and of different generations.

The main purpose of DDEE is to prepare students and young professionals for a diplomatic career, both on practical and content-related aspects. DDEE doesn’t address only topics of interest for the Eastern European Region. While the event aims to raise awareness on the defence and security threats that are now developing in Eastern Europe, it equally emphasizes the current issues on NATO’s agenda. For more details on DDEE topics, press here.

As concept, DDEE is structured as a series of events on two dimensions: theoretical (Forum) and practical (NATO Simulation).

DDEE will start with the Forum, where senior experts covering defence and security topics will debate on NATO current topics (to see the topics, go here). The two-days forum will emphasize the importance of NATO today and will raise awareness on the NATO’s role in the 21st century, its importance to national security and the role it plays in international relations. The forum will take place at „Carol I” Central University Library:

The following days will host the practical side of the event (Model NATO simulation, the anniversary edition of Model NATO Youth Summit, also known as #MoNYS – the flagship event of the organisation) where young people from different countries will understand NATO values expressed through its decision-making process. NATO Simulations will follow the exact format of NATO Committees/Councils/Meeting, while participants will be accommodated for this entire process at JW Marriott Grand Hotel Bucharest:

We are grateful to our partners in this event for such a great coordination to make it genuine, successful and at the highest standards: NATO HQ, US Embassy in Romania, Romanian Ministry of Defence, Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, JW Marriott Grand Hotel Bucharest, Carol I Central University Library, Toyota Romania and Coca-Cola.
